Rare and beautifully printed mid-century portfolio of Polish folk dance illustrations by celebrated Polish Art Deco artist Zofia Stryjeńska. Tańce Polskie (“Polish Dances”), printed in Paris in 1954 by T. Wallich, features vivid color costume and dance plates including “Mazur,” “Góralski,” “Oberek,” and other traditional regional dances.

Loose plates housed in original printed portfolio wrapper. A wonderful example of postwar Polish graphic design and folklore illustration, with Stryjeńska’s instantly recognizable stylized figures and bold decorative color work. Scarce in complete form.

Condition: vintage condition with edge wear, creasing, and light toning to portfolio and plates from age. Colors remain bright and striking. Please review photographs carefully for condition details.

An increasingly collectible work by one of the great Polish illustrators of the 20th century — appealing to collectors of Eastern European graphic art, costume design, dance ephemera, and Art Deco illustration.
